NAZM - e-invoicing for the UAE mandate

The UAE is moving all B2B invoicing to structured electronic exchange. NAZM is our answer: a platform that takes invoices from the accounting systems businesses already use, validates them against UAE requirements, and moves them through the compliant exchange network - without asking anyone to change how they work.

The mandate is coming; the invoices live elsewhere

From 1 January 2027, businesses in the UAE with revenue of AED 50 million or more must issue and receive invoices as structured electronic documents; smaller businesses follow from 1 July 2027. The mandate uses a Peppol-based five-corner model: invoices travel between accredited service providers in the PINT AE format, with tax data reported to the Federal Tax Authority as the fifth corner. A voluntary pilot phase opened in July 2026.

For most companies the hard part isn't the regulation - it's the plumbing. Invoices live in Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or Dynamics 365. Each system models invoices, taxes, and credit notes differently. None of them speaks PINT AE natively. Businesses face a choice between replacing their accounting stack or bolting on compliance manually, invoice by invoice.

/ approach

Compliance happens where the invoices already are

  • native integrations firstDeep, two-way connectors for Xero, QuickBooks Online, Zoho Books, and Microsoft Dynamics 365, with more platforms on the roadmap. Invoices sync automatically; nothing is re-keyed.
  • a canonical invoice modelEvery source system maps into one internal representation, which then maps out to PINT AE. New integrations and format changes touch one layer, not the whole platform.
  • validation before transmissionEach invoice is checked against the UAE data dictionary, VAT rules, and Peppol schema before it leaves - errors surface in the dashboard with plain-language fixes, not XML rejections days later.
  • built for the phased rolloutNAZM transmits through an accredited service provider partner, so customers get pilot-phase onboarding and a compliant go-live path without managing the exchange layer themselves.
/ architecture

The shape of the system

NAZM runs on Microsoft Azure as a multi-tenant platform, with each tenant's invoice data logically isolated at the database layer. Invoice exchange is fully asynchronous: transmission jobs flow through Azure Service Bus with automatic retries and dead-lettering, so a slow counterparty or network fault never loses a document. Every invoice, validation result, and transmission receipt is written to an immutable audit trail, with documents retained in Azure Blob Storage for the statutory retention period.

What it delivered

  • pilot phaseLive during the UAE voluntary pilot phase, open since July 2026.
  • integrations shippedFour native accounting integrations: Xero, QuickBooks Online, Zoho Books, and Dynamics 365.
  • validation coverageFull PINT AE validation against the current Ministry of Finance data dictionary - errors caught before transmission, not after.
  • mandate-readyBuilt for the phased rollout: January 2027 for large businesses, July 2027 for the rest.
